Barcelona players share excitement after open training at Spotify Camp Nou

Barcelona’s squad took part in a special open training session on Friday morning, marking their return to the revamped Spotify Camp Nou. The event drew 21,795 fans who filled the stands with songs, flags, and enthusiasm as Hansi Flick’s team stepped onto the new turf.

For players and supporters alike, the morning was a celebration of coming home. It had been nearly 900 days since Barcelona last trained or played in their historic stadium, and emotions ran high as the players reconnected with the venue.

Araujo: “When we were on the bus, I told them I was emotional”

Defender Ronald Araujo, one of the most experienced players in the current squad, admitted that the moment stirred deep feelings. “I’m very happy, with a tremendous sense of excitement. It’s beautiful. When we were coming on the bus, I told the others I was emotional,” said the Uruguayan.

“Everyone knows what this stadium represents. It’s impressive and full of history. The culé never disappoints, they’re always there. So many people came today, and that’s motivation for the team. We’re working hard, and I’m sure we’ll bring them many joys,” he said.

Casadó: “We all felt at home here”

For academy graduate Marc Casadó, the experience carried special meaning. Though he has trained at Camp Nou before, he has not yet played an official match there. “We all felt at home here, both the players and the fans. The atmosphere was incredible,” he said.

Casadó spoke about his long-standing dream to debut in an official game at the stadium. “I haven’t played here yet, but I keep that dream alive. The pitch is perfect, and even though this was only a training session, the fans were amazing,” he added.

Rashford: “It’s one of my favorite stadiums”

Marcus Rashford, who joined Barcelona this summer, also enjoyed his first day on the pitch as a home player. The English forward has previously played at Camp Nou with Manchester United but said the feeling this time was completely different. “It felt really amazing. It’s a fantastic stadium, and when it’s full it’ll be unbelievable,” he said. “The Camp Nou has always been one of my favorite stadiums. Playing here in a Barcelona shirt will be a completely different feeling, and I’ll definitely enjoy it.”

Rashford appreciated the chance to share the experience with supporters. “It wasn’t an intense training session, but it was a perfect opportunity for the fans to connect with us. These moments are special for everyone,” he said.
